Just a Simple Stand Against an Unsafe Practice...
In the spring of 2014, members of the essential oil community began to band together on a Facebook page to take a simple stand against an unsafe practice - namely, the casual ingestion of essential oils as promoted by some essential oil sales companies. Unadvertised, the group amassed over 300 members in its first week, and thus became known as "300 Strong Against Essential Oil Ingestion".
The page was a platform for hundreds of responsible essential oil users and practitioners to examine and discuss information of concern circulating online and at home-based sales parties that was, due to intense marketing practices, extremely difficult if not impossible to do on other pages. We were no longer stuck in a debate over IF essential oils were without risk of side effects when ingested straight from the bottle. Rather we knew they were not, and were then free to explore the issue from that point forward. Dozens of online recommendations, articles, blogs and even entire websites were brought to the front lines to be examined by responsible practitioners, certified aromatherapists, marketing experts, accredited institutions and reputable publications. The information was reviewed through the lenses of science, safety, ethics, and sales/marketing. This website simply documents some the information that has been examined and some of the skilled responses given by our online community. It should not be your ONLY source of information, but may serve as a reliable source for you to begin finding answers to questions you may have, and to cross reference information you have found from other reliable sources. Reliable meaning having truth - not profits - at heart, as determined by science, safety, and sales ethics. As a community, we concluded that essential oil ingestion is not without the potential risk of side effects. "300 Strong" made way in June 2015 for its new campaign to take action against unsafe essential oil use information called SPARTA. Thanks for visiting. |
